Scholarships

 To The Applicant:

The Education Foundation awards a variety of scholarships to graduating seniors each year.  To be considered for one or more of these scholarships, please complete the attached application and include:

  • A copy of your high school transcript
  • A letter of recommendation from a teacher or school administrator
  • A letter of recommendation from a member of the community or a present or former employer

    APPLICATIONS MUST BE RETURNED TO OUR OFFICE NO LATER THAN THE

THIRD WEDNESDAY OF MARCH.

DESCRIPTION OF SCHOLARSHIPS:

  • BUTCHER ACADEMIC SCHOLARSHIP ($1500):  Awarded in memory of Jesse G. and Violette S. Butcher to a student planning to pursue a bachelor's degree.  One year only.

  • BUTCHER VOCATIONAL SCHOLARSHIP ($500):  Awarded in memory of Jesse G. and Violette S. Butcher to a student planning to pursue a vocational program.  One year only.

  • FREEL FAMILY SCHOLARSHIP (Amount Varies):  Awarded to a student planning to pursue higher education.  Need-based.  renewable with re-application.

  • EVELYN G. WOODMAN SCHOLARSHIPS ($300):  Awarded by Mrs. Norma A. Wojack in memory of her mother, a former Gaylord High School English teacher, to an outstanding English student. One year only

  • GOLF PASSPORT SCHOLARSHIP (Number of scholarships and amount of scholarship varies):  Awarded to students pursuing a vocational or academic education following high school.  One year only

  • DR. JOHN M. THIEL SCHOLARSHIP ($500):  Awarded in recognition of Dr. Thiel and his service as team doctor to the Gaylord High School football team to a varsity athlete planning a career in the medical field.

  • JASON MEAD SCHOLARSHIP (Amount Varies):  Awarded in memory of Jason Mead, a student at Gaylord High School, to a student who has excelled in music (curricular and/or extra curricular) with plans to attend college and pursue a career in music.

  • KYLE CASEY MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP (Amount Varies):  Awarded in memory of Kyle Casey, a student at Gaylord High School, to a defensive or offensive lineman with plans to attend college or trade school.

  • ATHEL EUGENE & HELLEN WILLIAMS NURSING SCHOLARSHIP (Two scholarships of $1000 each):  Awarded to graduating seniors pursuing a four-year nursing program and a career in nursing.
