The Gaylord Story - Page 9

North of town, Wickes Lumber built a new lumber yard a distribution center serving all of northern Michigan.

Wickes wanted to be part of the Alpine motif and remodeled soon after they built their showroom.

Gaylord is the home of Glen's Market chain of grocery stores.  This photo was taken when the market was constructed on Main Street near the I-75 exit.  The building contained 40,000 square feet of store space.
This family restaurant was located on the southwest corner of Main and Illinois Streets.  To the right was a home and an insurance office.
The restaurant was remodeled into what became First National Bank of Gaylord.  The home and insurance office were razed for the bank's addition to the west.
