Literacy Council Awarded Great Lakes Energy People Fund Grant
The
Otsego County Literacy Council was awarded $4855 by the Great
Lakes Energy People Fund to install a new tutoring space, offer
tutor training, and purchase new Adult Basic Education materials
and online resources. The tutoring space was installed when the
Library was refurbished in May. Since it’s installation in the
Spring, pairs of tutors and learners have met over 50 times in
this new space.
Anyone who receives service thru Great Lakes Energy can have
their bill rounded up to the nearest dollar. The funds raised
thru this rounding up process are used to fund grant projects
throughout the Great Lakes Service area. The Otsego County
Literacy Council would like to heartily thank Great Lakes Energy
and everyone who participates in the People Fund program!
New Meeting Place and Time!
In order to encourage greater participation, the Literacy
Council is now
meeting before the monthly Otsego Human Services
Network meeting. Our next meeting will be October 20, 2010 at 9
a.m. at the Alpine Center on the 4th floor. Thanks to the
Otsego County Human Services Network for their help with this
schedule change!
New Tutoring Room
Otsego County tutors and learners now have a space to call their
own! With
funding from the Great Lakes Energy People Fund, the
library has installed a room in the main area of Otsego County
Library where
people may meet. To reserve the room, please call
the Library at 732-5841 or contact Jackie at 731-0680.
