MASTER GARDENER VOLUNTEER CERTIFICATION:

To become a Certified Master Gardener Volunteer, you must first complete the Master Gardener Volunteer course.  Upon completion of the course you will then complete 40 hours of community service.  When your hours are complete you will become a Certified Master Gardener Volunteer.

Yearly you will need to recertify to maintain your Master Gardener Volunteer Certification status.  To do this you must complete 5 hours of education time and 15 additional volunteer hours per year.  Volunteer hours can be obtained in a variety of ways including the sites listed under our Volunteer Opportunities link.

To become an Advanced Master Gardener, in addition to becoming a Certified Master Gardener Volunteer, you will need to complete 25 hours of additional education and 50 hours of volunteer work within a 5 year period.

New to the program is the Area of Specialization program.  After earning your basic and advanced Master Gardener Volunteer status, you can obtain an area of specialization.  The first program set up is Garden Design.  This program involves extra education and volunteer hours.
