Mediation training set for
Gaylord
Community Mediation Services
will present a 40-hour training for new mediators September 18-20
and September 25-27 in Gaylord.
This Michigan State Supreme Court approved curriculum provides an
overview of the state’s Alternative Dispute Resolution program and the
mediation process. Participants learn listening, questioning,
negotiating, conversation skills, summarizing techniques, agreement
writing, and more.
Classes will be held Thursdays September 18 & 25 from 1 p.m. – 5
p.m., Fridays September 19 & 26 and Saturdays September 20 & 27 from 9
a.m. – 5 p.m.
Participants MUST attend all class hours to successfully complete the
training.
Training will be held at the Otsego County United Way Building in
Gaylord located at 116 Fifth Street (at the corner of Fifth and Elm
Streets).
Snacks and beverages will be provided, as well as lunch on Fridays and
Saturdays.
Trainers include Judith Doan and Grant Bliss.
Training fee is $50 per person for participants who agree to
serve as a volunteer mediator with Community Mediation Services. The
cost of the training for those who do not agree to volunteer with CMS is
$500 per person. The fee covers all course materials including training
manuals and meals.
Payment must be made prior to the first class.
Registration deadline is Friday, September 12, 2008.
