Wednesdays: Give credit where credit
is due!
Every
now and again, someone will ask the question "why
aren't you open more hours?"
As
to the hours, please keep in mind we are staffed by volunteers. 100%.
Nothing more and nothing less.
In
the beginning, we operated on Saturdays only, and that seemed to work the best
for most everyone; volunteers and patrons alike. Some patrons come each
week, while others may come every-other-week or once per month. It
seemed to be the most logical.
Then,
along came Betsey Mitchell and Tammy Busch.
These
two ladies decided we needed to be open one afternoon per week. When they
pitched the idea to me, I have to admit I was skeptical. Between
facilitating Saturday's work and loading trucks with materials destine for the
recycling plants, I had all I could do to handle the materials that came in on
Saturdays. Especially during the winter months when my full time business
(towing) is usually busy.
After
much discussion, a decision was made to give it a try. And, after a year,
I must admit it's working well.
Next
time you run across Betsey or Tammy, make sure you give them a swift pat on the
back. They certainly deserve it!

on,
