Latest News from the Pigeon River Country Association

For those who haven't noticed it yet, we have acquired a new website location, which is found at www.pigeonrivercountryforest.org . Yes, we know that the new address is a bit unwieldy ("PRCA.org") was already taken (by the "Protestant Reformed Church of America" -- why couldn't it have been the "Reformed Protestant....?). We may also have to change even that name, as some people, seeing that address, decide to call the DNR personel at the forest headquarters, thinking that this is the way to reach the association by phone (why they don't use the email address provided puzzles us since they are already obviously "on-line" and since neither the association, nor the forest headquarters has the funding to hire a full time secretary to answer the phone!). But in any case, the new URL address is all our own, with a list-serve facility (so that we can get messages to you more quickly -- providing you give us your email address) and the other goodies that come with having a professionally set-up website.

However, the downside is that it seems that we don't have all the software programs to manage the news department of the new site as if yet, nor, at this point, a computer that is probably up-to-date enough to hand that more sophisticated software. As a result, for the time being, the whole PRCA news department will be found at the old public service website location provided by the Otsego County Public Library at www.otsego.org/prca . However, what you will get if you go to that old site will be the index page to our PRCA news service, with links to get you back to our new website when you are through reading the news.

Please be patient while we are working all this out.

Richard W. Kropf -- PRCA website(s) manager
