Purchase Dog License by Mail

Make checks payable to Otsego County (do not send cash) for the license amounts listed at the right. You must send current rabies certficate with complete description of dog with current tag number and expiration date for each animal requiring license. Be sure to have proper address for return mailing.
Adoption Fees

Dogs: $55 (includes MI dog license)

Cats: $45

* $25 of the adoption fee is returned when you show proof of having the animal spayed or neutered. If the animal is already spayed or neutered, the $25 goes to Friends for Life, Inc. to off-set the cost of spaying and neutering.


Submission Fees

(these fees are used to help off-set the cost of vaccines, deworming and any immediate medical care of the animal)

Otsego County resident dog or cat fee: $20 per animal
Non-resident dog or cat fee: $50 per animal (if space is available)


License Fees

Michigan dog license BEFORE MARCH 1st
(spayed or neutered or proof of registered dog): $10
Michigan dog licnese BEFORE MARCH 1st (intact dog): $20

Michigan dog license AFTER MARCH 1st
(spayed or neutered or proof of registered dog): $15
Michigan dog licnese AFTER MARCH 1st (intact dog): $25

*Michigan Dog Licenses are due BEFORE MARCH 1st each year. If you do not have your dog licensed prior to March 1st, you could receive a fine for failing to license. This fee is $30

You're pet may be eligible to receive FREE pet insurance for the first 2 months after adoption. Visit our Petfinder.com web site to find out more. Go to www.ocac.petfinder.com. Click on the animal you're interested in, a window will open with the pets information, click on ShelterCare in that window to find out more. Foster Homes Needed


We are looking for someone to foster adoptable cats that are waiting for homes. This not only helps to reduce the population at the shelter, but it is also good for the well being of that cat. If you are interested in fostering a cat(s), contact the animal shelter.
