Dover Township is a member of a three-township consortium (Charlton, Chester and Dover Townships) that provides for the collection of garbage and recycled materials. The transfer station for this service is located at 2932 Rock Road, Johannesburg, Michigan, approximately 4.5 miles west of Johannesburg off M-32. A small fee is charged when depositing garbage in the trash compactor. There is no fee to recycle; costs for recycling are paid for by a county-wide millage for recycling.
