Join Jim Peters and other myco-lovers for a day learning about mushrooms in the Pigeon River
Country State Forest. Participants will learn:
-A basic understanding of fungi, what they are and what role do they play in world we live in.
-The myths and the truths about mushrooms.
-Basic mushroom structure and identification.
-Mushroom identification, the good, the bad and the really bad.
-About spring, summer and fall foraging.
-Picking and carrying for your fungi.
-Preparing and cooking.
Packing a lunch and something to drink is highly recommended.
Attendees need to bring the following and be dressed to hike through the woods:
A larger size garden type basket.
A small to medium sized new paint brush.
A larger size knife or hori garden tool for digging up the mushroom and/or cutting them off of wood.
