Native garden begun in 2006 when herbicide application was stopped.

In addition to cultivated plants, the shoreline now boasts a number of volunteer plants.
Plants present include (but are not limited to): Bearberry (Arctostaphylos Uva-ursi), Bluestem Goldenrod (Solidago caesia), Boneset (Eupatorium perfoliatum), Bull Rushes (Scirpus spp.), Joe Pye Weed (Eupatorium maculatum), June Grass (Koeleria macrantha), Peppermint (Mentha piperitae), Spearmint (Mentha spicata), Switch Grass - cultivars (Panicum virgatum), Wild Geranium - native and cultivar (Geranium maculatum), Wild Rose (Rosa acicularis), Chokeberry (Aronia sp. ), Cinquefoil (Potentilla fruticosa), Eastern White Pine (Pinus strobus), River Birch (Betula nigra), Silver Maple (Acer saccharinum), Tamarack (Larix laricina), Leatherleaf Fern (Rumohra adiantiformis), Maidenhair Fern (Adiantum pedatum), Ostrich Fern (Matteuccia struthiopteris).
