Minutes of regular meeting of Charlton Township Board - January 9, 2006

The regular January meeting of the Charlton Township Board was called to order by Chairman Matt Nowak at 7:00 pm on Monday, January 9, 2006.

All board members present.

Others present: Robert Fleury, Tammy Myers, Joe Myers, Russ Arquette, Lauren Myers, Sally Nowak and James Quandt.

Those present recited the pledge to the flag.

Milbocker moved, Edwardtowski supported, to accept the minutes of the previous regular meeting as corrected with the following correction: change bills paid to read $14,061.39 instead of $14,061.29.  Ayes, all.  Motion carried.

Kim Samkowiak presented the Treasurer's report as follows:  General Operation, $156,346.52;  Roads Account, $150,463.23;  Fire/EMS Account, $9,311.66.  Maschke moved, Milbocker supported, to accept the Treasurer's report as presented.  Ayes, all.  Motion carried.

Next regular meeting will be February 13, 2006.

Old Business:  Jos. Myers stated that the fire department is working on specs for a new tanker truck.  Decided to advertise for bids for the old 1974 International tanker truck.  Make bids due March 13.  Minimum bid amount to be $2500.00.

Tammy is working on specs for a new EMS vehicle.  Probably an Expedition or Suburban.  Talked about which vehicle we could purchase first with the millage funds or whether to borrow money to get both.  Will discuss at February meeting.

Audience:  Bob Fleury gave information on community planning web sites.

Deb talked about an outstanding bill for trash dumped at the waste station.  Amanda Cox owes $16.00 for trash dumped.  Need to send a letter.

New Business:  Matt talked about getting the hall fixed up.  The restrooms need work on counter tops and paneling.  The kitchen needs some items including counter tops.  The furnaces need to be checked.  More chairs and chair racks should be purchased as we are down approximately 100 chairs.  Matt will get some prices.

Decided to change the lock keys for he hall and firehouse/EMS barn.  Contact Neil Gallaway.

Joe Edwardtowski gave a report on the county commissioner's meeting.  New airport terminal is in the works.  The county clerk is going to put township numbers on the county website for phone and fax.  Still working on budget problems.

EMS.  Tammy reported that the EMS squad made 81 runs in 2005.

Planning/Zoning:  Jim Quandt talked about the wind turbine language, zoning issues and traffic problems in the Meecher road area.  Joe Edwardtowski stated that it would be good to get a copy of the Planning Commission minutes each month.

Edwardtowski moved, Milbocker supported, to pay the bills presented in the amount of $25,472.67.  Ayes, all.  Motion carried.
