Minutes of special meeting of Charlton Township Board - March 20, 2001
A special meeting of the Charlton Township Board was called to order by Chairman Willis Walker at 6:30 pm on Tuesday, March 20, 2001.

Board members present:  Walker, Samkowiak, Huff, and Maschke.

Board members absent:  Milbocker.

Others present:  Marian Walker, Pat Kundrat, and Bob Fleury.

Meeting called for the purpose of adopting the proposed FY 2001-02 budgets for the township and any other business that may come before the board.

Samkowiak moved, Huff supported, to set the Treasurer's salary for FY 2001-02 at $14,140.80.  Ayes, all.  Motion carried.

Maschke moved, Huff supported, to set the Clerk's salary for FY 2001-02 at $15,301.20.  Ayes, all.  Motion carried.

Samkowiak moved, Huff supported, to set the Clerk's salary for FY 2001-02 at $14,140.80.  Ayes, all.  Motion carried.

Samkowiak moved, Maschke supported, to set the Trustee's salary for FY 2001-02 at $2,551.00 plus $78.00 each special meeting.  Ayes, all.  Motion carried.

Maschke moved, Samkowiak supported, to adopt the proposed FY 2001-02 General Operation Budget.  April 1, 2001, starting balance on hand of $240,134.21.  Expected Revenues of $268,780.00.  Expected Expenditures of $444,030.00.  Contingency Fund of $64,884.21.  Ayes, all.  Motion carried.

Maschke moved, Huff supported, to set the townships' principle depository as Old Kent Bank, Gaylord, with the secondary depository as North Country Bank & Trust of Gaylord.  Ayes, all.  Motion carried.

Samkowiak moved, Huff supported, to set the meeting times for regular meetings as the second Monday of each month at 7:00 pm.  Ayes, all.  Motion carried.

Maschke moved, Samkowiak supported, to adopt the proposed Roads Account Budget.  Starting balance on hand of $332,919.68 as of April 1, 2001.  Expected Revenues of $13,675.00.  Expected Expenditures of $133,492.00.  Ayes, all.  Motion carried.

Talked about a possible streetscape grant in conjunction with construction to improve M-32.  Walker says that there are Federal monies available as well as some funds from M-DOT.  Will discuss at a later date.

Meeting adjourned at 6:45 pm.
