Listed below are up-coming educational opportunities including conferences, local happenings, and speaker presentations being given on garden-related subjects. September 27, 2008: The Alpine Master Gardener Association and Otsego County MSU Extension present their Fall Workshop & Bulb Sale, from 9am-1pm, featuring Janet Macunovich. Janet will speak on "Holiday Magic - Plants of Christmas Lore" and "Holiday Decorations from your Garden - Hands On". Cost is only $30. Register early as there is a limit of 100 participants. October 4, 2008: Genesee County Fall Into Spring Seminar,
from 8:30am to 4:00pm at the Genesee Area Skill Center, 5081 Torrey Road, Flint,
MI 48507. Four speakers will share their expertise on topics ranging
from "Autumn Jewels", "Landscaping in Tune with Nature", "Dazzling Daylilies",
and "New Annual and Perennial Plants for 2009". Several garden vendors
will also be available . Registration for class is $50 which includes
continental breakfast and full lunch, door prizes and all handouts.
Registration will be on first come, first serve basis. Registration

Antrim County MSU Extension, will be held from 9am-noon, at the Bellaire
Wesleyan Church. Kathy and Steve Young, Master Composters, will introduce
you to composting and its many benefits, as well as how to make your own
composting bins, how to make your own composting tea, and will take us on an
adventure to discover the wonderful world of worms. Cost is $10 including

Composting for Beginners
Registration Form. March 22-26, 2009: International Master Gardener Conference in Las Vegas, Nevada. Registration begins August 20th with an October 1st deadline. Registration fees are $260 early bird; $310 regular registration. Hotel rates are $129 for Monarch standard suite (double-double, or queen or king).
